If things turn out differently (9+)

Music theatre full of visual poetry and dance

A co-production with Het Houten Huis and Club Guy and Roni’s Poetic Disasters Club.

“Anyone can end up here,” my father says. He’s filling out an endless stack of forms, and I have to stay quiet. It’s been at least 110 hours. There’s a high counter, with two blue latex hands behind it. They tell us what to do, but I don’t understand.

People come and go. A girl with an IV dances so lightly, I think she might fly. The boy who was just sitting next to me has no arms or legs, but he can do everything. There’s a woman with such a heavy, oversized head that she almost tips over.

You can get lost here too. An old man wanders through the hallway. You can laugh with him; he’s forgotten he’s been coming here for years. In his eyes, summer clouds drift.
And me, I’m just different. “That’s a good thing,” my father says. “There’s already so much that’s the same.”

The musical performance If Things Turn Out Differently is about a waiting room where no one wants to be. Where the walls shift, people stumble, and yet they remain strong.
